Assessment of a subject’s functional abilities is a necessary part of any return to work program. In this basic Functional Capacity Evaluation/Functional Capacity Testing Certification workshop you will learn to perform FCEs and how to evaluate and document material handling and non-material handling aspects of work performance. Other skills covered will include how to administer and record results of Performance Criteria Screening and techniques for marketing your programs to physicians, case managers, employers and adjusters.

At the completion of the course and submitting two acceptable FCE reports over the 12 months following the course, you will be designated as a Certified Functional Capacity Evaluator (CFCETM) and receive 1.5 CEUs (in most states).

Objectives
  1. Learn protocols and demonstrate skill to administer evaluation of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tasks.
  2. Review and identify the necessary elements of musculoskeletal screening for Functional Capacity Evaluations.
  3. Learn the elements and application of various positional tolerance tests.
  4. Learn and practice clinical reasoning skills required to incorporate job simulation techniques into a Functional Capacity Evaluation.
  5. Learn and demonstrate skill to administer pain/disability questionnaires and other select Performance Criteria.
  6. Learn and practice basic documentation skills for Functional Capacity Evaluations.
  7. Explain successful marketing techniques for Functional Capacity Evaluation services.
Who Should Attend
Course is appropriate for OT's, PT's, OTA's, PTA's, RN's, MD's, DC's. OTAs & PTAs should check your state’s Practice Act.

Certification Process:
Day 1 - Written Test, Day 2 - Practicum, Present Case Study as Group, Within 12 Months - Submit 2 FCE's for Review.

Required - For the Seminar:
  • The attendee needs to bring a data calculator and know how to calculate a Coefficient of Variance.
  • The attendee needs to bring clothing appropriate for testing (gym shorts, tee shirt, tennis shoes) for the practicum.
  • Attendees with a medical condition prohibiting their ability to participate in lifting, carrying, or treadmill testing will assist in data collection during the practicum.

  • Basic Postural Assessment Skills
  • Prior skill in evaluating functional capacity will be helpful but is not a requirement


About Certification
The workshop certifies that you are able to perform a basic Functional Capacity Evaluation using the techniques and protocols taught in the course. After passing a written test, successfully completing a basic practicum on day two of the course, and submitting two acceptable FCE reports over the 12 months following the course, you will be awarded your certification designating you as a Certified Functional Capacity Evaluator (CFCETM)

Continuing Education Units
Most professionals receive the standard 1/10 of a unit per contact hour. This workshop is approved for 1.5 CEUs in most states.

Fourteen-day Advanced Purchase Price $615.00
Regular Purchase Price $685.00

Policies
Tuition is refundable less 50.00 if canceled 14 days before the workshop date. Tuition is not refundable under any circumstance, for registrations or cancellations after the 14 days has expired. However, you may have someone attend in your place or attend at another date. You may only change workshop dates or locations two times, then tuition will be forfeited. The Back School of Atlanta cannot be responsible for nonrefundable travel expenses, etc. should it become necessary to cancel a workshop. Replacement course certificates fee: $25.00. Locations/Accommodations: Most workshops are held at a local medical facility. We rarely have enough out of town participants to meet the minimum required to block rooms and get a group rate; however, we will provide a list of hotels and phone numbers that are in the area. The Back School of Atlanta cannot be responsible for nonrefundable travel expenses.
